Learn by doing (and super engaging themes)
Background
Code School was an interactive online learning platform where students would learn to code by doing in the browser. Each course was uniquely (maybe over-the-top) themed to be engaging and seriously fun.
Code School was acquired by Pluralsight in 2015 for $36 million dollars.
Course design

As a course designer, I branded each themed course and illustrated assets that went into the platform UI, challenge assets, slide decks for teaching and marketing. I worked directly with the course teacher to establish compelling visuals for the teaching content and sample projects. This was often fun work and was always a team effort.
Apart from the visuals
While much of my visual work was illustration, I learned from the process of making courses how to prepare designs for app development, iterate on design ideas for the sake of UX, UI, and development, and communicate with cross-functional teams.
